    AIDS Week

On April 24, 2008, as part of AIDS Week put on by AMSA, ACOFP co-sponsored a lunch meeting where Shawna Stewart, M.A., L.P.C. from the AIDS Outreach Center spoke about "HIV and Mental Health".  This talk featured many helpful points for the medical practitioner concerning mental health issues.

    Operation Troop Bake

On November 9th, with the help of ACOFP-TCOM, UNTHSC, and the local community, care boxes    (baked goods and other comforts) were shipped to a Texas military unit preparing for deployment in mid-November for a 15-month tour in Iraq.

    Fit Future KIDS Fest

ACOFP-TCOM co-sponsored a booth with PEDS club for the second annual community-wide Fit Future KIDS Fest.  This free event offered a myriad of healthy activities for children and their families to learn how to reduce childhood obesity and avoid other nutritional problems. Participants were able to sample yoga, karate, tai chi, stepping, gymnastics, fencing and rock climbing. New activities include tennis, golf, pilates and games such as jump rope, hopscotch, and hula hoops.  Community organizations displayed booths where families learned how to plant a vegetable garden, play interactive nutrition games, and navigate an obstacle course.

DO Dash and Community Health Fair

On October 20th, 2007 ACOFP-TCOM members participated in DO Dash, an annual charity 5K organized by the class of 2010 DO Dash Committee.  This year's DO Dash benefited colon cancer screening and awareness thanks in part to contributions by many organizations including ACOFP-TCOM.
